Subpoena Information
Witnesses play a vital role in the criminal justice process. Without you, it is difficult for our office to hold offenders accountable for their actions and seek justice for our community.
We understand that the prospect of having to come to court and testify can be stressful and scary. If you are needed to testify, members of the Victim/Witness Assistance program are here to help ease some of that anxiety.
Subpoenas are served on all witnesses in active cases and are valid for that term of court (approximately 2-3 weeks). All witnesses are required by law to appear when needed.
Many cases are resolved prior to trial. Due to this, all witnesses can put themselves “on call” or standby and DO NOT need to appear until they hear from the Victim/Witness Advocate. If you are needed for trial testimony, the advocate will advise you of the exact date and time to appear.
